This privacy notice applies when you use the TaxiSure mobile application to request or receive transportation services, including rides, outstation trips, car rentals, Chardham Yatra packages, and All India Tours.

  • Request or receive rides as a rider
  • Provide transportation services as a driver
  • Register as a vendor on our platform
  • Use any other service provided through the TaxiSure app

Our privacy practices comply with applicable laws in India and the places where we operate. By downloading, installing, or using our app, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Data You Provide

Communication Messages, reviews, and feedback provided through our app

2.2 Data We Collect Automatically

3. Location Data Collection & Usage

Important: How We Access and Use Your Location

TaxiSure accesses and collects your precise location data (GPS) to provide our core ride-hailing and transportation services. Location data is essential for the proper functioning of our app. Below is a comprehensive disclosure of how we access, collect, use, and share your location data.

3.1 Types of Location Data Collected

  • Precise Location (GPS): Your device's exact geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) are collected using GPS, Wi-Fi, and cell tower triangulation.
  • Approximate Location: Coarse location data is used when precise location is not required, such as for general area-based services.
  • Pickup and Drop-off Coordinates: The exact addresses and GPS coordinates of your trip origin and destination are stored.
  • Trip Path / Route: During an active ride, we record the full route path including coordinates, speed, and heading at regular intervals.

3.2 When Location Data Is Collected

  • Foreground (App in Use): Location is actively collected when you open the app, search for rides, set pickup/drop-off locations, or are on an active ride.
  • Background (During Active Rides Only): For drivers and riders during an active trip, location tracking continues in the background to enable real-time ride tracking, fare calculation, and safety monitoring. Background location access is only used during active rides and is not continuously tracked otherwise.
  • Location is NOT collected when the app is closed and no ride is active.

3.3 Purposes of Location Data Collection

We collect and use your location data for the following specific purposes:

  1. Ride Matching: To match riders with nearby available drivers based on proximity.
  2. Real-time Ride Tracking: To display the driver's location to the rider (and vice versa) during an active trip for safety and convenience.
  3. Fare Calculation: To accurately calculate ride fares based on actual distance traveled and time elapsed.
  4. Navigation Assistance: To provide drivers with turn-by-turn navigation to pick up riders and reach drop-off destinations.
  5. Pickup/Drop-off Identification: To identify and store the exact pickup and drop-off coordinates of each trip.
  6. Wait Time Calculation: To calculate waiting time charges if the rider is not at the pickup location when the driver arrives.
  7. Safety & Security: To ensure rider and driver safety by monitoring the ride route and providing trip sharing capabilities.
  8. Dispute Resolution: Trip logs with location data are used to resolve disputes about routes, timing, or charges.
  9. Service Improvement: Aggregated, anonymized location data is used to improve routing algorithms and service availability in different areas.

3.4 Who Location Data Is Shared With

  • Assigned Drivers: Your pickup location and drop-off location are shared with your assigned driver to facilitate the ride.
  • Riders (for Driver users): The driver's real-time location is shared with riders during active rides.
  • Google Maps API: Location data is sent to Google Maps for geocoding, route calculation, distance estimation, and navigation.
  • Law Enforcement: Location data may be shared with law enforcement agencies in response to valid legal requests.

3.5 Your Control Over Location Data

  • You can enable or disable location permissions through your device settings at any time.
  • However, disabling location services will prevent us from providing core ride-hailing functionalities such as finding nearby drivers, tracking rides, and calculating fares.
  • You can request deletion of your stored location data by deleting your account (see Your Rights & Choices).

4. Permissions We Request

Our app requests the following device permissions. Each permission is requested only when needed for specific functionalities, and you can control these permissions through your device settings.

5. How We Use Your Data

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

Provide Transportation Services

  • Connect riders with drivers
  • Track ride progress with real-time location updates
  • Calculate accurate fares based on distance, time, and other factors
  • Maintain detailed trip logs for reference and service improvement
  • Handle special requests like carrier options

Safety & Security

  • Verify driver and vendor identities through document validation
  • Ensure rider and driver safety through location tracking
  • Prevent fraud and enforce our Terms of Service
  • Resolve disputes about routes, timing, or charges

Payment Processing

  • Process payments through our payment partners (Razorpay)
  • Store wallet balance and transaction history
  • Record driver registration fees and commission payments
  • Handle cancellation fees when applicable

Service Enhancement

  • Improve our services and develop new features
  • Analyze usage patterns to optimize app performance
  • Apply appropriate taxes and charges based on location
  • Match riders with appropriate vehicle categories

Communications

  • Send important notifications about rides and services
  • Provide updates on promotions and new features

  • Enable in-app communication between riders and drivers

6. Data Sharing & Disclosure

6.1 With Drivers and Riders

  • When you request a ride, we share your first name, pickup location (address and coordinates), and drop-off location with your assigned driver.
  • During an active ride, we share your real-time location with your driver and the driver's real-time location with you.
  • We share ride details including OTP, fare, distance, duration, and special requests (like carrier option).
  • We enable in-app chat between riders and drivers during active rides.

6.2 With Service Providers

We work with trusted third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf:

  • Payment processors (Razorpay) to handle transactions
  • Map and navigation providers (Google Maps API) for routes, geocoding, and distance calculation
  • Cloud storage providers to securely store data
  • SMS service providers for OTP verification
  • Analytics providers to improve our services
  • Customer support tools to assist with inquiries

These providers have access to your information only to perform specific tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.

Taxi Sure does NOT sell or rent user personal data to any third party for marketing or advertising purposes.

6.3 For Legal Reasons

We may disclose your information to comply with laws or regulations, in response to valid legal requests from public authorities, to protect the rights, property, or safety of TaxiSure, our users, or others, or to detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues.

6.4 Business Transfers

If TaxiSure is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email and/or a prominent notice on our app of any change in ownership or uses of your information.

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information:

  • Secure Database: We use PostgreSQL with appropriate security configurations
  • Strong Authentication: We implement OTP-based verification for account access
  • Encrypted Connections: All data transfers occur over secure HTTPS connections using SSL/TLS encryption
  • Data in Transit & At Rest: Encryption of data both in transit and at rest
  • Limited Data Access: Strict access controls for our staff
  • Data Validation: Input validation to prevent injection attacks
  • Data Anonymization: Data anonymization and aggregation where PII is not required
  • Regular Security Reviews: Ongoing assessment of our security practices

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. We also retain data:

  • To maintain transaction records as required by financial regulations (typically 7 years)
  • To comply with legal obligations and resolve disputes
  • To enforce our agreements and prevent fraud
  • To improve our services based on historical data

Account Deletion Process

You can request to delete your account at any time by:

  • Using the account deletion option in the app's settings
  • Using the account deletion feature on our website
  • Contacting our support team at support@taxisure.in

Upon account deletion:

  • Deletion Timeline: Most personal identifiable information (PII) is purged or anonymized within 90 days of the request.
  • Retention Exceptions: We may retain certain data (e.g., transaction records, security/fraud logs) for longer periods if required by Indian law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., ongoing legal claims).

Inactive accounts may be subject to deletion after extended periods of inactivity, with appropriate notice provided.

9. Your Rights & Choices

Account Information

You can review and update your account information by logging into the app and visiting your account settings.

Location Information

You can enable or disable location services through your device settings. However, disabling location services will affect our ability to provide you with the full range of our services, particularly ride-hailing functions.

Notifications

You can disable push notifications by changing your notification settings on your device or within our app.

Your Data Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data (subject to certain exceptions)
  • Request restriction of processing
  • Data portability
  • Object to certain processing activities

10. Children's Privacy

Our app is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. For significant changes, we will provide a more prominent notice, which may include an email notification. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.

Use of our services after an update constitutes consent to the updated policy to the extent permitted by law.
